Hello DaWanda!

After reading the Claire's opinion from Heart Handmade about whether Etsy is the right platform for the people she wants to sell her products to or not, it made me stop and think for a while. Maybe Etsy is TOO CROWDED! I know, many have managed to be really successful through Etsy, some have also managed to quit their day jobs and be totally independent and I can't doubt that it's needed a lot of time and hard work into it, but I think Etsy is all about TOO MUCH GOING ON AROUND HERE and it seems difficult to really make your shop pop out from the crowd! Maybe I'm wrong...
I've heard of DaWanda platform but I thought it was only in German. It appears that now it's also in English and in French. I did my research (Google it!) and I've found this article with the title "Etsy Vs DaWanda: Two Websites to sell your handmade crafts". Most of these statements are actually true, according to my humble, short Etsy experience. So, I thought I should give Dawanda a try. After all, what did I have to lose? DaWanda doesn't charge you for listing your items, it only charges you if you actually sell them, so... it won't do me any harm to also list some things over there, now would it?
That's how my new DaWanda shop is now up and running! It will be like an experiment. The first shop that will give me the first sale (other than my sister and all of my first degree relatives!) will win the challenge! I'll keep you posted, of course!

What's your opinion about that?
If you have any experience on any of these two platforms I'd love to hear what you have to say. Are you satisfied, dissatisfied or what?

  3. I think you are doing the right thing in experimenting with a European-based outlet. I certainly would be if I were still in the UK. Etsy, for all it's wonderfulness, is not the only (nor best) outlet for non-North Americans, in my opinion.

Good luck with your findings :)
