Anzouya: The "Before I Die..." Project

It's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day and forget what really matters to you. If you'd die tomorrow, what would be something that you would definitely want to have had, made, done, accomplished? Take a minute to think about it...

Before I die I want to... LIVE!

Candy Chang is an artist and designer who wants to make cities more comfortable for people, and that's accomplished through her projects. In one of them she wanted to know "What matters the most to the people around us". And so the Before I Die... project was born.

With the help from friends and neighbors, she turned the side of an abandoned house in her neighborhood in New Orleans into a gigantic chalkboard to invite people to share what is important to them. That way a neglected space was transformed into a constructive one where everyone can learn the hopes and aspirations of the people around them.

Η Candy Chang είναι μια καλλιτέχνης και σχεδιάστρια που θέλει να κάνει τις πόλεις πιο άνετες για τους ανθρώπους, και αυτό το πετυχαίνει μέσα από τα σχέδια-προγράμματά της. Σε ένα από αυτά ήθελε να μάθει "Τι έχει περισσότερη σημασία για τους ανθρώπους γύρω μας". Κι έτσι το Before I Die... γεννήθηκε.

Με την βοήθεια φίλων και γειτόνων, μετάτρεψε τον τοίχο ενός εγκαταλελειμένου σπιτιού στη γειτονιά της στη Νέα Ορλεάνη σε έναν τεράστιο μαυροπίνακα όπου καλεί τους περαστικούς να μοιραστούν όλα τα πράγματα που έχουν σημασία για αυτούς. Με αυτό τον τρόπο ένας παραμελειμένος χώρος μεταμορφώθηκε σε έναν δημιουργικό όπου ο καθένας μπορεί να μάθει τις ελπίδες και τις φιλοδοξίες των ανθρώπων γύρω του.

Once the wall is filled, they wash the board with water and start with a clean one again. They are documenting all the responses and some will be included in a book.

Μόλις ο τοίχος γεμίσει, τον πλένουν με νερό και ξεκινούν από την αρχή. Καταγράφουν όλες τις απαντήσεις και μερικές από αυτές θα συμπεριληφθούν σε ένα βιβλίο.

They have also received many requests from people who'd like to make one in their city, so they're working on providing a kit with a how-to guide and large mural one-column stencil that will make it easier to produce the wall and understand the process.

Έχουν επίσης λάβει πολλές αιτήσεις από ανθρώπους που θα ήθελαν να φτίαξουν κάτι παρόμοιο στην πόλη τους, γι'αυτό θα προσπαθήσουν να παρέχουν ένα πακέτο εργαλείων με οδηγίες και μεγάλο stencil για να είναι πιο εύκολη η δημιουργία ενός τέτοιου τοίχου.
