Oilcloth Bag & Pillow Case

I think my sewing skills are improving and I haven't even started the Home EC Class yet! I'm impressed by myself, really! I wanted to give another try to my last project which turned out totally different than what I had in mind.

Remember this Totebag?

Well, I think that this time I made something that is a little bit closer to it. I couldn't help but change the measurements a little bit ONCE AGAIN! -What's wrong with me?! I always have to put a little extra? Why can I just trust the experts and follow their instructions?! Huh?!!!- Anyway, here is what I've made this time, and I can say that I'm really proud of myself.

I've also made a pillow case based on this tutorial. Well, I started with the tutorial and then tried to adjust it on a pillow that I had around (experimenting... AGAIN! - can't follow ALL the instructions step-by step remember?) Well, it has its flaws but it turned out ok I think.

Oilcloth Bag & Wallet

I think I'm getting better at sewing, or maybe oilcloth is a very forgiving material and I couldn't go THAT wrong! Yesterday I tried to make a tote bag out of an oilcloth that I've found with a cute pattern (or at least something that didn't seem so much like a table cloth). For once more... I didn't measure, well... I measured but only in the beginning, just to have my two first pieces even, after that I "went with the flow"! hahahaha

Yes, I know, I'm impossible!

That's why I'll never be good at sewing!

This was the Tote Bag that I had in mind.

I remembered that I've seen it but I didn't have the tutorial in my hands, so I improvised! How difficult could that be?! Well, all I can say is that at least I ended up with something that is decent and not a disaster... AGAIN! I started sewing, the pieces turned out smaller that I expected so I cut the whole thing in half and made something that "looked like a wallet", with many flaws if I may add

I made the flaws seem

like they were on purpose

and with the second part which included the hemming of the oilcloth (I think that's why it wasn't a total disaster after all) I've made a small tote bag.

I also made a flower with some pieces of oilcloth and put it on the bag with a brad.

They are cute, don't you think?

My Package Has Arrived

(I'm sorry but I have to postpone this week's "5 Bookmarks Of The Day" because I'm running like crazy around here -busy, busy, busy at work- and I didn't have the time to do my proper research. I'll make it up to you next week, I promise! For now I leave you with a "quick post". -forgive me...)

Tutorial - Painted Tote Bag

Ι'm really excited about this project! For a long time I've been meaning to try something like this . And the time has finally come! Take a look at my brand new tote bag!

Here's how is done:

First you need a tote bag

I used a pencil to trace down the design I've wanted

(I did it free hand-without a stencil or anything- and probably the pencil isn't the proper tool to do it, but it worked for me)

I've put a piece of cardboard inside the bag, so that the paint won't tranfern to the other side and I've painted it with acrylic paint.

 This is how it looked like.

After it was dry, I've stitched around each one of them with maching yarn.

I've added some more details, like eyes, mouth e.t.c.

Look at my brand new tote bag!!!!

 I've added something that "looks like a sun" but I think I don't like it after all. Maybe I'll change it. So, this was it! Tell me what you think? I'll surely give it a try again soon.

Οδηγίες - Ζωγραφισμένη Πάνινη Τσάντα

Είμαι τόσο ενθουσιασμένη γι'αυτή τη δημιουργία! Ήθελα πολύ καιρό τώρα να δοκιμάσω κάτι τέτοιο. Και τώρα ήρθε επιτέλους η ώρα! Ρίξτε μια ματιά στην καινούρια μου πάνινη τσάντα!

Να πώς γίνεται:

Καταρχήν χρειάζεστε μια πάνινη τσάντα

Χρησιμοποίησα ένα μολύβι για να περιγράψω το σχέδιο που ήθελα

(το έκανα με ελεύθερο χέρι και ίσως το μολύβι να μην είναι το κατάλληλο εργαλείο για κάτι τέτοιο, αλλά για'μένα δούλεψε)

Έβαλα ένα χαρτόνι μέσα στην τσάντα, για να μην μεταφερθεί το χρώμα και στην άλλη πλευρά και χρωμάτισα με ακρυλικές μπογιές.

Έτσι ήταν μετά το βάψιμο.

Αφού στέγνωσε, κέντησα το περίγραμμά τους με το αντίστοιχο χρώματιστό νήμα.

Πρόσθεσα και μερικές λεπτομέρεις, μάτια, στόμα κ.τ.λ.

Κοιτάξτε την ολοκαίνουρια τσάντα μου!

Πρόσθεσα και κάτι που "μοιάζει με ήλιο" αλλά νομίζω ότι δεν μου αρέσει τελικά. Ίσως το αλλάξω.
Έτσι λοιπόν, αυτό ήταν! Πείτε μου τη γνώμη σας. Σίγουρα θα το ξαναδοκιμάσω σύντομα.
