Project Restyle - Week No 5

This week's Project Restyle is about my favorite Purple Beanie. It had started to worn out and the edges were fraying so I've decided to give it a makeover.
I have crocheted around the edge with a light purple yarn, just to keep it from fraying more and I have also added two of the flowers that I've made following the instructions of my new book.
Doesn't it look cuter now?
(I'm a mess in this photo, sorry!)

New Way To Comment Back

Today at The Curious Pug I saw this post about Comments and Commenting Back. I really enjoy receiving comments and I really-really-really appreciate them all, but as Alycia says:
"I've been really making an effort to
reply back to your comments."
The most common ways I've used until now to respond back to your comments are:
1. If you comment using your blogger account, and you provide an email address somewhere in your account, I just copy it and your comment and you get an email with my response.
2. I visit your blog and find a post to comment back on.
3. I reply in my comments, but you won't know I have, unless you come back to see. Otherwise, if you have clicked on the "Subscribe by email" link next to the "Post Comment" button, you will get an email for each subsequent comment for that post.
Either way, it's too difficult to keep track of all the comments back and forth and usually you won't know I have replied to you. Wouldn't be nice to have a more interactive way?

So, after reading many of the replies to her post -Epiphany!- the solution was right there! I signed up to Intense Debate, installed their widget and a new form of interactive comments is a reality! That way you can get notified whenever I reply to your comments and we can build up some sort of conversation.

I don't know yet if this works, so I would appreciate it if you test it for me by just leaving me a comment and I'll try to comment back to see what happens.
Thank you so much!

"Financial independence is a term generally used to describe the state of having sufficient personal wealth to live indefinitely without having to work actively for basic necessities."
Haven't reached that yet!

Kiss Me Still

Lately I'm obsessed with this song "Φίλα Με Ακόμα" - Kiss Me Still, in translation! Panos Mouzourakis, actor and a singer and Kostis Maraveyas from Maraveyas Illegal perform this beautiful song which is a revision of the Italian "Baciami Ancora" permormed by Lorenzo Jovanotti. As much as I love Italian songs, I must say that the Greek version is much more touching! I think it has more passion, on the rhythm, on their voices, on everything! Mouzourakis and Maraveyas have INCREDIBLE and unique voices after all! You can listen to them both and judge for yourself.

So, which one do you think sounds best?

30 Days Photo Challenge - Day 17

#17 A picture of something that
has made a huge impact
on your life recently.
The only thing that has made a HUGE impact on my life was the opening of my shop 4 years ago. I'm not sure yet if it was the right decision but I'm sure I have learned a lot and  if I haven't had started it I wouldn't be here now.

Crochet Flowers

A couple of days ago I received this book
that I have ordered it through Amazon.
It's AMAZING!
Inside you can find instructions for every flower that you can imagine! And it also has patterns both for knitting and crocheting. My knitting skills are still in their baby steps, but seeing the wonderful things that I could do, I may give it one more try.
So, last night I put out my crochet hook, lots of yarn and got to work. It was more difficult than I thought it would be. You see, I can't really say that I am familiar with all the abbreviations nor all the stitches, I don't know all their actual "names" to tell you the least. It has been a little disappointing! I thought that I'll never get it right e.t.c. but after a lot of try and error I ended up with these and I'm proud of myself.
Not perfect nor as good as the ones shown in the book, but at least they are decent enough and a lot different than the more simple flowers that I've been making until now.
Do you see the "kind of rose" on the bottom left?
I have put behind it a safety pin so now it's a cute brooch!
Maybe I should make more of these...

What's In My Bag

Today I've decided to add this funny feature on my blog. I've seen it around and looks interesting.
From time to time I'll be sharing "What's In My Bag", just because everyone is always curious about what's in a woman's bag! Plus, you can get an idea of the person who carries this bag just by looking to its content.
So, with no further ado, here's what's in my bag today.
1. Sunglasses. always in my bag because, you never know!
2. A mini umbrella. Usually in my bag for the same reason as the sunglasses, you never know when it's going to rain again!
3. A beanie to keep my head warm.
4. My Inspiration Book. Inside it I keep all the ideas that I have about my Blog, my Etsy Shop and every other creation that comes on my mind.
5. A set of Stabilo Fine point pens so I can draw and color whatever I want in my Inspiration Book.
6. My agenda-calendar. Helps me remember stuff.
7. My fancy pen.
8. Girly nail clippers. I always carry them around not just for my nails but for anything else that would need to be cut (a ripped thread from a piece of clothing e.t.c.). I don't know if it makes sense... :-)
9. Tweezers. Not ANY  tweezers! Mine has the shape of a girl.
10. My driving licence, ID, business cards e.t.c. Whatever else I can stuck into this.
11. Bobby pins. For that unruly hair that may need a little shape up.
12. USB memory sticks.
13. Liposan! My lips are always chapped in the Winter but also in the Summer. I suppose they can't stand the too cold and too hot weather.
14. Herbal Jasmine Mints. My sister gave them to me when I was in Berlin. I LOVED the metallic package!
15. Instant cleansing hand gel, antimicrobial. I have a thing about clean hands. I wash them several times every day and if I'm not near a lavatory, well, this hand gel is my savior!
16. My beautiful wallet. A present my bo-boy gave me after his trip to London.
17. Heart Shaped Pocket mirror. I have this FOREVER! It was a gift from my good friend Afrodite AGES ago. Although, one part of it is broken, I still keep it, ignoring the rumors about bad luck.
18. My cell phone, of course, but I forgot to take it out of my bag. Sorry.
So, what's in YOUR bag?

Painting Again

My hunger to learn and experiment has no end! Maybe I should stick to the things I know and do well and stop wandering around, as Alex told me. But it's no use! I can't help it! I always want to try myself in different things. Maybe I haven't found my "thing" yet, or maybe I don't have ONLY ONE "thing".
My first love has been painting, but I gave it up too soon. I've made some efforts from time to time but nothing too serious. I've never stop sketching and drawing of course, also as a part of my other profession, a part-time art teacher for elementary school. But I was thinking "Anyone can impress a seven-year-old with their drawing skills", so I didn't give me much credit.
Now that will has come back to stay, I think. Lately, I've been watching many videos-tutorials on YouTube about mixed media techniques, collage and stuff and I'M HOOKED! Looks simple and easy and in fact, these aren't things that I haven't already tried in some way. The only thing I lack is the proper supplies, but a visit to the shops will be all that I need.
My latest painting was this one, in which I've tried to make some layers with scraps of paper but since I had only acrylic paints and not the fancy water color pencils and crayons that I've seen in many tutorials the result isn't so transparent. I'm working on it though.
What Do You Think?
Seems that a new adventure has begun! PAINTING!
Let's see how I'll make it with this one too...

Project Restyle - Week No4

Remember Project Restyle? Well, so far, I haven't been as committed to it as I would want to, but here is a new project. My brother had in his shop many pieces of unwanted small tiles in many colors and patterns, so he brought them to me saying "I'm sure you'll find something to do with them rather than throwing them away!" and I did, of course!
What you'll need?
- an empty bottle of milk
- a hot glue gun or any other strong glue
- small tiles or even beads, yarn, stones, sea shells
First, wash your bottle well and remove the plastic tag.
With a sharp knife cut off the bottle's "neck".
Gather your supplies, decide the pattern
that you want and start gluing!
Just as simple as that!
If you try it out I'd love to see it!
