Happy name day to every Spyros and Spyridoula!

Tomorrow is a huge celebration here in Corfu because

Saint Spyridon is the protector of this island.

The celebrations start a day before and the traditional treat is

doughnuts aka "loukoumades" with cinammon and honey.

Χρόνια πολλά σε όλους τους Σπύρους και τις Σπυριδούλες!

Αύριο είναι μεγάλη γιορτή για εμάς στην Κέρκυρα γιατί

ο Άγιος Σπυρίδωνας είναι ο προστάτης του νησιού.

Η γιορτή ξεκινάει από την παραμονή όπου το κλασσικό κέρασμα είναι

λουκουμάδες με μέλι και κανέλα.

Ορίστε, σερβιριστείτε! ;-)

Berlin Summer 2013

So, where have I been all this time?

Well, after my sister's summer vacations in Corfu, I followed her back to Berlin for a summer getaway of my own. I've only been there in the winter and late Autumn so, the change of scenery was a pleasant surprise. I LOVE Berlin in the Summer! So colorful! It wasn't too hot, and that was really great after the heatwave that has hit us lately.

Πού χάθηκα λοιπόν τόσο καιρό;

Μετά τις καλοκαιρινές διακοπές της αδερφής μου στην Κέρκυρα, την ακολούθησα πίσω στο Βερολίνο για μια δική μου καλοκαιρινή απόδραση. Μέχρι στιγμής είχα πάει μόνο χειμώνα και φθινόπωρο, κι έτσι η αλλαγή του σκηνικού ήταν μια ευχάριστη έκπληξη. ΛΑΤΡΕΥΩ το Βερολίνο το καλοκαίρι! Τόσο πολύχρωμο! Δεν έκανε πολλή ζέστη, κι αυτό ήταν τέλειο μετά από το κύμα καύσωνα που μας είχε χτυπήσει τελευταία.

 We took long walks, had delicious brunch by the river.
Κάναμε πολλές βόλτες, φάγαμε πεντανόστιμο brunch δίπλα στο ποτάμι.

 Took a day trip to Dresden. 

MAGICAL city!!!

Πήγαμε μια ημερήσια εκδρομή στη Δρέσδη.
ΜΑΓΙΚΗ πόλη!!!
Πρέπει οπωσδήποτε να την επισκεφθείτε.

(Eventually I had the MINI-normal size on the plane back home).

I missed the chance of taking a ride on the biggest hot air balloon
due to the windy weather.
Oh, Berlin, I'm definitely coming back!
Έχασα την ευκαιρία να μπω στο μεγαλύτερο αερόστατο της Ευρώπης
λόγω του ότι φυσούσε.
Ω, Βερολίνο, σίγουρα θα σε ξαναεπισκευτώ!

Our Weekend In Paxos

I forgot to mention about our weekend in Paxos.

Ok, now it's official! I'm IN LOVE with Paxos! This place is magical and  whenever I'm there I'm feeling so calm and peaceful. Yes, I can even see me living there!
What can I say about this island? The traditional houses? The olive groves all over it? The AMAZING-OUT OF THIS WORLD beaches with crystal clear waters? This time I was introduced to Antipaxos too and -OH-MY-GOD!- the Caribbean waters exist in Greece too! We stayed in Lakka and Harami beach is by far my favorite beach on the island!

Ξέχασα να αναφέρω το Σαββατοκύριακό μας στους Παξούς.

Οκ, τώρα είμαι και επίσημα ΕΡΩΤΕΥΜΕΝΗ με τους Παξούς! Αυτό το μέρος είναι μαγικό και όποτε βρίσκομαι εκέι νιώθω τόσο ήρεμη και γαλήνια. Ναι, μπορώ ακόμα και να με φανταστώ να μένω εκεί! Τι μπορώ να πω γι'αυτό το νησί; Τα υπέροχα παραδοσιακά του σπιτάκια; Τους ατελείωτους ελαιώνες; Τις ΦΑΝΤΑΣΤΙΚΕΣ-ΑΠΕΡΙΓΡΑΠΤΕΣ παραλίες με τα κρυστάλλινα νερά; Αυτή τη φορά γνώρισα και τους Αντίπαξους και -ΘΕΕ ΜΟΥ!- τα νερά της Καραϊβικής υπάρχουν και στην Ελλάδα τελικά! Μείναμε στην Λάκκα και η παραλία Χαραμί είναι τελικά η αγαπημένη μου από όλο το νησί!

Oh, Berlin!

Oh, we had so much fun in Berlin! It was wonderful! The weather was OK -it was raining but at least it wasn't snowing and the cold was bearable. We wandered around a lot, went to cute little cafes and bars (I'll post about them), ate WAY TO MANY wurst aka sausages, drank a lot of beer and laughed out loud A LOT! We are Greeks, we are loud! hahahaha
